Top knots - They're a part of Spaniels you either love or hate

Photo Description:- Boris the Black Cocker Spaniel standing in the woods wearing his green fleece jumper and royal blue collar, his head is turned to the side and his top knot is sticking right up in a punk style Mohican

Personally I'm not a fan of them, but when Boris came running back to me looking like the ghost of Christmas Past from my youth I just had to capture a photo before he was charging off around the woods again

Boris has always had such a beautifully smooth head with only the odd wisp of flyaway hair, his coat was long, luxurious and so soft

Then a few years back it started to fall out when he developed Staph Pseudintermedius, a horrible autoimmune skin problem, I won't bore you with all the details as we posted often about it at the time

But when his coat finally grew back it was totally different in both texture and looks. Boris's coat became woolly, thick and difficult to groom, plus he'd developed a thicker top knot

No longer could Boris be hand stripped because of it potentially aggregating his skin problem, so I took him to a groomer to reshape him with scissors and the strict instructions of no clippers to be used to give me a template to follow when grooming him in the future, Boris came out and looked absolutely amazing

All was well and I got his coat back into good shape again, approx 18 months or so later he went back to the same groomer for a reshape as he was looking a little untidy with my novice scissoring skills

A different person did him this time but they didn't heed my request or his notes of no clippers to be used written in red and clipped off his top knot instead of scissoring it

 I was absolutely fuming!

Yes I did complain and yes he was groomed for free by the original groomer the next time he needed to be reshaped again

Unfortunately because clippers were used on Boris's head that day, it's ruined his lovely smooth head and now he grows a massively thick woolly upright top knot that even when scissored down doesn't lay flat anymore

So whilst this picture is very funny, it's also upsetting for me

It's a reminder that instructions were ignored and not acceptable when paying for a service, so nowadays Boris will just have to make do with my novice scissoring skills until I can find a groomer that I feel I can trust again

Thank you so much for stopping by and we hope you enjoyed our post, we love comments and love to make new friends through blogging

Having had such a long break from blogging after we sadly lost the star of this blog Badger Boo, we're now excited to be back so you can get to know our new stars Boris and Eko

For the longest time we toyed with the idea of leaving the format the same, but in the end we realised it was that which was holding us back from returning to blogging again, it was just too hard

Boris and Eko will continue to carry on with Badgers legacy by telling all their stories from a dogs point of view, but I will also be blogging about life in general, reviews and much more as we move forward on our new style blogging adventures, as I no longer write my original blog "Me Myself and I"

At the moment we're enjoying finding our way around all the Blog Hops again, discovering new friends as well as catching up with some old ones

It's really great to discover that blogging is still very much alive and thriving as it was before our break xxx
