Being Disabled during Lockdown

As a disabled person with an autoimmune disease I can't walk very far to get to somewhere isolated to exercise Boris my assistance dog, driving for five minutes to the nearest common to allow Boris to get out of the house for some downtime and too switch off from working is an essential trip out, both for his wellbeing and mine

I can't have a dog walker due to the high risks and myself being in self isolation, now that all the car parks have been closed onto the commons Boris can't have that one trip out a day we're allowed for his exercise so that he can have the time to switch off, sniff and run that is far enough away from people to enable me keep myself safe from Covid19, the local field is an unsafe option as everybody else is walking their dogs there

Authors Apology

It's been 8 months since I wrote my last post for Boris here and promising you all I would return to posting. The reality is I'm still struggling to return, the memories of Badger Boo every time I open this blog are too much to bear.

I hope you can all understand why I've decided to stop posting on this blog for now. I won't close it down as it contains so many wonderful memories and friends.

Letter From the Heart

Dear friends and fans,

Two years ago today we lost the star of this blog our sweet Badger Boo, we were totally devastated. I couldn't face his pictures and everybodies condolences so decided to take a month off from blogging, one month soon became two and then three and so on and so on, I managed a couple of vague posts but my heart just wasn't in it any more.

Amazing Day Yesterday

Late yesterday afternoon mum and I did something truly amazing, it was very exhausting for mum which is why I've not posted until now.

As you know I've been around Sainsbury's several times in the last few weeks with both The Olds and practicing walking nicely by the trolley, trollies can be a scary item to dogs when not used to them. Mum has really struggled to go shopping without dad or somebody with her for many years, she gets very panicky on her own and sometimes can't even go into the shop, a few weeks ago she and I managed a quick walk around Asda in Woking on our own whilst dad waited outside, it might not sound much but was a big thing for her to do. Recently I've been keeping a beady eye on my food tins and starting to worry we'd run out and I'd have to eat just dry food on its on until dad could go shopping at the weekend.
