Yesterday we spotted an untouched patch of Snow Drops growing wild out on the common
I love these beautiful little flowers and was so pleased to see that they were fairly well spread out with spaces of empty ground between the clumps of flowers, it meant that I could carefully position the Boys between them without causing any damage to these beautiful delicate flowers
So many times we come across native flowers on walks that have been trampled by others, I can only assume it's due to people taking photos without care which is heartbreaking
With careful positioning and a solid Stay it's possible to get some lovely photos of our native flowers and our dogs together without causing any damage to the flowers themselves
Getting that perfect photo is no excuse for trampling the flowers, we only ever take photos around the edges of any wild flowers where they are at their thinnest, preferring the flowers to be a carpet of colour in the background with hopefully one or two individuals in the front if possible
Leaving no trace when taking photos is something I feel most strongly about, it's illegal to pick certain wild flowers here in the UK because of their rarity, trampling them down damages them almost as much as picking them and ruins the experience of seeing them for the next person to come along
Photo Description:- A closer photo of the white delicate flowers of Snow Drops without Boris and Eko in the background, just a carpet of more white Snow Drops |
The weather had turned somewhat chilly again yesterday, down to 4°C so the boys wore their neoprene wetsuits in case they found themselves an icy puddle to wallow in
Thankfully they didn't find any puddles or mud to play in and finished their walk as clean as when they started, with only a few bits of bracken stuck in their fur
Great photos, clean dogs and a dry day is always a perfect walk from my point of view, but I'm sure Boris and Eko would beg to disagree considering they usually finish their walks either soaking wet or covered in mud and woodland debris

The UK has most definitely been chilly of late, with little rain. My, those snowdrops sure do look lovely, and all the better for being caught in a dry spell so they can show off their charm.

Just hope it stays dry and doesn't start raining anytime soon, nothing pulls the mood down like walking the dogs in the rain lol xxx
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the pretty snowdrops and your Boris and Eko. Have a great day and happy week ahead.
Thank you Eileen, it's always so difficult to decide which photos to post each time and so glad you like them xxx

ReplyDeleteGorgeous "pawtraits"!!! I too am on JigPlanet (find me as 'yammacca'), have saved yours to attend later.
Was reading through a few of your previous posts and note your move into full-time carer mode. I was in that situation with my late father - just as COVID hit and I went down with it before it was even properly named... so spend 2020 not just isolated with an advanced Parkinson's patient, but battling a resurgence of my CFS (or possbily Long Covid, as that has clearly become something). He passed his natural passing at the end of that nightmare year and I had aged 10 years in the one. Am only now feeling that am emerging from the weight of it all. So you have understanding, and, (for what it is worth), ether support. YAM xx
So sorry to hear of your father Yamini (((((hugs)))) yes it's certainly been a tough couple of years.
DeleteI went into lockdown with two healthy parents who I then didn't see for approx 18 months due to having to self isolate for my own health and now there's these two people living in their house that I no longer recognise, I know they're both in their 80's now but how they aged in those 18 months of not seeing them, even though we spoke daily on the phone I never noticed their decline in health and into Dementia, it's like somebody spirited my parents away and put strangers back in their place, how I regret playing by the rules and self isolating now , one day I'll write a full and frank post about it all
I absolutely love the online Jigsaws and I'm now following you also, I'm so slow at doing them though, I look at other people's times and think "how did you finish that on 20 minutes when it's taken me over 2 hours to do the same puzzle" lol xxx
Hello :=)
ReplyDeleteI love snowdrops and finding both snowdrops or wild crocus is always delightful. Your two boys look very happy dogs, and are well trained not to step on the flowers. I also liked the two poses of Boris who looks like he has won a prize with a blue ribbon over his shoulder, but it must be a seat belt.
All the best
Thank you for stopping by and for your lovely comment, Boris is wearing his blue neoprene vest as the temperature had really dropped, being a spaniel he absolutely loves water no matter how cold it is, but getting cold and wet isn't great for his arthritis and heart condition, so I try to be proactive about keeping him warm, he also has a dark green vest which would have looked a lot better when I took the photos, but as they weren't planned I tried to hide as much as possible by getting him to lay down, I briefly considered taking it off him for the photos, but decided against it in the end as it was so chilly xxx
DeleteWhat a lovely professional pose...stay by the phone I know Dog Fancy is sure to call you

ReplyDeleteThank you that's lovely of you to say so x
DeleteLove the snowdrops, aren't they gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, they're one of my favourite flowers x
DeleteSweethearts!
ReplyDeleteThank you x
DeleteThe flowers are so pretty. We usually are on trails when we walk in fields or wooded areas, so we never have to worry about stepping on anything.
ReplyDeleteThank you, that's so lovely to hear x
DeleteGorgeous photos sweeties!
ReplyDeleteThank you x
DeleteSuch beautiful snowdrops. Are they amongst the protected species in the UK?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if Snowdrops are protected to be honest, but it's illegal to disturb or pick flowers that grow wild here, so we always leave them alone and don't reveal where this patch are, only a few years ago they were just a small splattering of flowers but this year theyve really taken off. Our native Bluebells which are due out soon have been been protected for as long as I can remember and are now starting to thrive in some areas, I have some amazing photos of the pups from last year which we did a photoshoot for and counting down the days until I can post them x
DeleteTwo beautiful doggies among the lovely flowers ~ awesome photo ~ like your philosophy about leaving no trace ~ Xo

Thank you for stopping by, we see so many squashed flowers in the spring which is really sad so we're always careful, also some of our native flowers can cause irritation to dogs so it's always better to be safe than sorry as I can never remember which ones they are xxx
DeleteThanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, not entirely sure how I managed to upload such an old post 🤷♀️ xxx
DeleteI get frustrated by the stupid and careless arrogance of people. Things don’t automatically mend themselves . We don’t live in a Disney film aagghh
