Spring has Sprung (almost)

After all the dreary weather things have taken a much needed turn for the better down here in the South of England, this past week has been so sunny that it feels as if Spring has arrived early this year

When heading to the allotment to start digging in the beds and prepare them for planting I was so pleased to spot a small patch of early Crocus at the side of the road with their delicate purple flowers poking up through the grass to brighten our day
Once the Crocus and Daffodils start to bloom it really lifts the mood knowing that Winter will soon be but a distant memory

This year didn't get off to a great start, first with the whole scaffolding debacle which was then closely followed by a complete nightmare when the Gas Safe engineer we've used previously came to do the yearly service of the heating and boiler at mum and dads house. Without warning the engineer disconnected

Bluebell Season

It's official Spring has finally arrived here in the UK, the sun is getting warmer and the Bluebells are now out filling our woodlands with luxurious carpets of blue

They're a little late blooming this year because it's been so wet and cold as Bluebells usually flower from late March to early May, although it does vary from year to year

They are one of the last spring flowers to bloom before the woodland

It sure has been a tough start to the year for us as a family, not only with my dads health but my partners father also being unwell

Snow Drop Season

Yesterday we spotted an untouched patch of Snow Drops growing wild out on the common

I love these beautiful little flowers and was so pleased to see that they were fairly well spread out with spaces of empty ground between the clumps of flowers, it meant that I could carefully position the Boys between them without causing any damage to these beautiful delicate flowers

Has Spring Sprung Early?

Perfect Day

Yesterday we had the most fabulous walk in the sunshine at our favourite place, we've not been there in a while due to one thing and another

We had the whole common to ourselves it felt like and unlimited walking time as I didn't have to rush off anywhere

A leisurely stroll with lots of photos, it feels like an absolute age

Bluebell Woofs

Spring is my all time favourite season of the year
Everything bursts into life and the days start to shake off the chill of Winter
I love all the Spring flowers but my favourite by far has to be the Bluebell as it carpets the woodland floor and turns everything into an amazing blue
I hope one day to be able to do the amazing colour justice in a photograph

The British Bluebell is so very fragile and easily damaged that once you find a wood full of naturally occurring and unmanaged wild Bluebells like these in the photo above, then
