Never say the Q word

As a shift worker for most of my adult life there's one word you soon learn to never utter

Within minutes of somebody saying it the incidents would start coming in thick and fast and the rest of the shift would be hectic

When I turned the page on my calendar this morning to organise my life around my parents various appointments I got a pleasant surprise

Eko the Golden Cocker Spaniel and Boris the Black Cocker Spaniel laying on a Union Jack covered sofa when we were recently at Dogstival in the VIP area, both boys are facing the camera with their tongues out and wearing blue cooling bandanas around their necks as it was starting to get very warm

There's only one appointment for mum at the audiology clinic this week to hopefully sort out her hearing aids, the past few weeks her hearings aids haven't been working properly so communication hasn't been easy

I've no idea how they work and mum has forgotten because of her vascular dementia, which results in a lot of raised voices and mum having the TV volume up so loud when watching her programmes that it really upsets dad as he's very noise sensitive these days

I've probably gone and jinxed myself now, even though I never actually mentioned the Q word, the merest hint of it can make things get busy pretty quickly, only time will tell

  1. I hope the hearing aid thing gets sorted out, I can sure see where that would be a problem.

    1. It turned out that they desperately needed cleaning and were full of ear wax 🤢

The audiologist showed me how to clean them and replaced all the tubing as well as giving me some information of a local support group for the hard of hearing

Now the hearing aids have been sorted out, the TV is back at a much more reasonable volume and it's a lot more peaceful without the TV sounding like the speakers are about to blow any minute lol xxx
