Mum Update

I've been taking some much needed time for myself this week and feel so much better for a few days back at East Wittering with the two crazy boys and Himself

This getting old lark isn't much fun and I do appreciate that I still have both my parents at my age, not everybody is so blessed

I'm also really lucky to have such amazing supportive friends who've helped me too see that things couldn't carry on as they were

I hadn't realised until a few days ago just how much I'd made myself unwell as I struggled to cope with everything

Mum is moving forward with her rehab and is now able to walk short distances with support, I know this as when arrived at their house a couple of weeks ago I caught her walking into the kitchen

I'm so happy she's defying the odds that she was given after her stroke, but it also made me very angry that she should hide her improvements from me, especially when I'd previously tried to speak to her about how much I was struggling with my own health

The good thing that has come out of all this is being able to spend time with my dad again and enjoy his wicked sense of humour once more

The dynamics of the relationship with my mum will always be complicated, I can never forgive her for the things she's done to me, but I can and have moved on from it these past few months

The mother of old isn't the mother I have now

  3. I ma happy to hear your mum is doing better. It is so worrying watching our parents get older, isn't it. I lost my dad this year and feel I need to take extra care of my mum now. Love the photo of your dogs, they are adorable. I am hoping to have another dog soon, once I have come to terms with losing my Mollie. My mum has a spaniel and he is adorable. Thank you so much for linking up with us this week.

    1. I'm so sorry to hear you lost your dad, I saw your mum's beautiful Spaniel on Instagram, before I read the post I thought he might be a new family member. You'll know when the time is right to get another one, I didn't think I'd ever get over losing Badger Boo, I was adement I didn't want another dog for a long time, friends kept telling me to get another dog to replace Badger, but pets can't just be replaced!

When I eventually started looking again I was convinced I wanted another Blue Roan or maybe even another Black, but then I met Eko who was perfect in every way even though he's a Gold lol xxx
