Self Care is so Important

Boris says

We're back home after the most amazing holiday and back to walking on our favourite common once more
The holiday was to give mum some much needed respite from caring for her own mother since her stroke in April

Photo Description:- Boris sitting on grass on the common looking very content wearing his grey collar with a rose gold buckle. Behind him in the distance are the trees and a beautiful clear blue sky with a few white clouds

It's been a very stressful time since it happened and has been making mum

Mum Update

I've been taking some much needed time for myself this week and feel so much better for a few days back at East Wittering with the two crazy boys and Himself

This getting old lark isn't much fun

Where Do I Start?

Looking back I see that my last proper blog post was over 6 months ago now!
Where has that time gone?
So much has happened, but not all in a good way I'm sad to say, I've sat at my PC many times intending to blog, but never got further than a title or the first words of a sentence.

So as not to bore you with the longest post ever about what's been happening, I'm going to break it down into several parts.

The pain from my Arthritis was getting very bad and I was hardly knitting or doing any form of crafting, looking back now I think I was being chased by that big Black Dog of Depression, I couldn't shake the beast off, no matter how hard I tried, so I just allowed myself to succumb.

In June I was scheduled to have my left knee replaced, I was feeling really nervous, having had the right one done last year I knew what was coming. We decided to have a weekend away at East Wittering before the surgery as I'd be laid up for a while afterwards.
First order of the day was to take Boris to the beach as on previous visits he was still on restricted exercise from his surgery, so had to stay on the lead. As you can see he certainly threw himself into having a great time on the beach.

Love, love, love swimming in the sea, much more fun than paddling in muddy puddles :)

When we got back to the camper van disaster struck, somehow I overbalanced and fell smashing myself into the rear of the van, I have no memory of what happened, just that the pain in my arm was excruciating!

I was unable to get up because of my dodgy knee not being able to support me and every time I tried to move I screamed out in agony, I could feel the bones moving around inside my arm. I'm pretty sure my language must have been appalling at this point, I've never felt pain this bad EVER, I felt like I was going to pass out at any moment.

Himself had to call an ambulance, as I needed one of those pillow things they pump up under my backside to help me stand up. The X-Rays revealed I fractured my Humerus bone in six places near the top.

I couldn't wear a cast because of the location of fractures, so had to wear a cuff sling, with my hand up near my chin for six weeks, there was also talk about the very real possibility I would need surgery to repair it.

 Week 1
The photo doesn't do the bruise justice as it was almost black!

Week 3
The elbow and inside of my arm are still black and blue as the bruise travels down to the lowest point, again the photo doesn't show the true black and blue of it.

To make matters even worse my knee replacement surgery had to be cancelled, I have no idea when that will be rescheduled for again.

At my six week check up the X-Rays were disappointing as so very little healing had happened, I'm still having to wear the sling 12 weeks on, I'll find out this week if any more healing has happened. Its still very, very painful but I do have some movement in it now which I didn't before.

That's just about it for today, I'd forgotten how much concentration it takes for me to write a post and I'm feeling really tired at this point.
I'll update you again in the next day or two.

Happy 1st Birthday Boris

I'd forgotten how much work puppies were! Boy did you re educate me quickly, with the digging up of my lovely garden, the almost constant removal of slugs and stones from your mouth, the endless trips outside every hour on the hour day and night to potty, it took you weeks to get the hang of toilet training didn't it, where did all that poop come from in one so small?

I was exhausted after one week, had I made a mistake, I was starting to think so!

The Return of Smile it's the Weekend

Hello everypawdy it sure is pawsome to be back again.
So much has happened I'm not sure where to begin, but firstly I'd like to say a big woofy Thank You to everypawdy who sent me Get Well Soon messages, it's so wonderful to find out how much love there is, out there in the big wide world.

Although I've not been keeping up with my blog lately I was still posting on my facebook page, here I am trying to sort out which of my many videos to post for you to see.

Smile it's the Weekend {21}

Last week I was jumping for joy but couldn't say why.

The reason I couldn't say was, we were going away in the House on Wheels. We've not been away in it for ages and ages, mummy says it's 18 months. I'm not sure what she means by that, it's either a long time or a short time in my head.
I wasn't allowed to say anything as mummy didn't want any "Bad People" to know that the house would be empty for a couple of days.

I was so impatient to get going and wanted to drive, but my silly paws on my silly short legs don't reach the pedals, but I did have the important job of warming up the seat ready for daddy.

Then disaster !!!
The battery was deader than a dead thing that's dead, they only went and put everything back in the car to go home again, I was not best pleased, I didn't want to hear about the hoomans problems, I just wanted to get going!!!!

I refused to get out of the House on Wheels, I wanted to go to the Seaside, I did my best to resist but was picked up rather rudely and lifted into the car.

Oh the humiliation of such treatment!!!

Home we went, then out they went to buy the new battery. Mummy was in shock, it cost £153.60 for a new one. Don't know why they was moaning about it, at least we could go now.

But No;

I was made to wait until the next day.
Eventually we got to the campsite but it was pouring with rain, all I could do was gaze out the window at the Seagulls, not a lot else was happening.

Eventually the sun came out and I was able to go out and inspect the pitch, it was very wet. Daddy had parked on the road so the wheels didn't sink and get stuck so I had a huge area to play in.

Whilst daddy set about giving the House on Wheels a really good wash, it was covered in loads of green mould from being left or ages, I took mummy for a walk.

I galloped off to the dog  field, but when I looked around mummy had gone!
OMP I'd lost mummy, why didn't she keep up with me, she knows she must always stay where I can see her now that I can't hear very well.

The thought of never seeing her again was so scary, I started to worry when suddenly I met a lady who said she knew who my mummy was and would help me to look for her, by this time mummy had been missing for about 20 minutes.

We started walking back to the campsite, when we saw mummy coming towards us, I was so pleased to see her, I ran straight up to her and gave her a good scolding for wandering off like that. From now on I think she'll have to stay on the lead in new places as we might not find her next time.

When we got back, daddy had a surprise for me, he'd found a massive Chewy in the garage area of the House on Wheels. Here I am sitting in the doorway so that any passing pups can see just how lucky I am.

After I'd had my Dinner I felt so pooped out with all the excitement, I just crashed out for the rest of the evening.

We had the most pawsome time away, it's just so great to be out and about again.

Hope you all have a pawsome weekend too.

Bird Brained Pup

Bird Brain :o)
Yep I look good here mummy.

Mum was trying to get a picture of me chillaxing in the sun on daddy's lap, but this pesky Sea Gull kept sneaking into shot!

Can you see him?

She finally got the shot, I think I look pretty damn handsome in it too, even if I do say so my self.

Lets see who else is smiling this weekend :o)

Sun, Sea and Sand

Can you believe it, there's still a mini heatwave going on in the UK!

Which means only one thing:

We're off to the beach at East Wittering **does a happy dance** strangely we didn't go in the house on wheels, it has a flat tyre and needs an MOT whatever one of them is, so we went in the car and there was no sleeping over like normal, we had to come home afterwards **sob**

We love East Wittering as there's hardly ever anyone on the beach, as everyone crowds up to West Wittering and it gets packed up there.

First things first is a mad dash about as I'm so excited to be back, mummy calls this Riding the Motorbike cos of the way I corners BOL

Vroom Vroom

When your as small as me even the smallest waves coming in appear pretty huge!

You will not defeat me waves
But all in good time they go out again and into the water I go.

Ahhhhhhh this is fantastic **grins**

All of a sudden it's:
Yikes I gotta get out of here as the wave tries it's best to smash me on my bonce and pull me under.

OMP I'm outta here!!!!!!
Hope everypawdy has a great weekend.
Now lets go and see who else is smiling this weekend.

**waves paw and dashes off**

Day at The Beach

There's nothing I love more than a day on the beach and swimming in the sea.

I seem to have misplaced my ball here which is unusual as my ball loves the camera as much as me BOL

Jackanory:- Part Eight

Welcome back to my Jackanory story.

Sorry it has been a while and I left you on a little cliff hanger! If this is your first visit, parts one to seven can be found by putting Jackanory in the search box or going through the archive.

So where were we?

**settles into a comfy spot and starts to remember**

My Hoomans had just bought a House on Wheels, and were having a massive debate abouts whether or not I would be able to go away with them because of my "issues". I was listening with my paws crossed as I really, really wanted to go.

Eventually it was agreed I could go but I had to be good, no swearing at other dogs allowed.

Balls, Swimming and Tomatoes

Had the most pawsome adventure in the "House on Wheels" and my hoomans, we went to my favorite beach and guess what?

There was NO rain!

How pawsome is that, after our last weekend away was plagued with rain.

As usual it was the "Hurry up and wait" scenario, we get there and have to wait ages for the hoomans to get set up **shrugs shoulders and whispers I don't know either** before the fun can begin.

Come on, I'm BORED!
