Bitter Sweet

August is always a bitter sweet month for us as it's the month we lost the original star of this blog Badger Boo

Who'd have imagined all those years ago that people would be remotely interested in what Badger got up too when I started writing an online diary for myself on Blogger

Being new to social media I had no idea how it all worked, I didn't even have a facebook account, I just started writing and people started to find my original blog

Where's the Snow?

All week there's been snow in the air yet none of it has settled, it's been a lot of years since we last had any decent snowfall here in the South of England

On the rare occasion it does decide to snow then disappointingly it quickly goes slushy, then just like that it's gone a few hours later

The last time we had any real snow here was way back

Jackanory Part 20 - Gone but never forgotten

Last month was the 8th anniversary of Badger Boo leaving us to forever reside at the Rainbow Bridge
I really didn't want to ignore the date but posting on the day was too hard, even now it still feels like only yesterday that Badger had to leave us so suddenly and unexpectedly
Badger is still the lock screen and wallpaper on my phone, which probably doesn't help, but I still don't feel ready to change it, not even when I change my phone

🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤

When I first started an Instagram account for Boris to follow his journey as my assistance dog, there was some interest in Boris doing some modeling work at the time and I'd signed him up with an agency

Looking for the magic in every moment

For the first time in ages yesterday we had no time limit for our walk, it was great to just have the time to go wherever the dogs led me

We were soon on a part of the common I'd not been too for a very long time, I used to often walk this route with Badger but it always felt so weird walking that way after he'd left us for the Rainbow Bridge, so I've always avoided it, but the boys wanted to go that way and I duly followed as it was their walk after all

The rain soon started and I wanted to turn around and head back but

Throwback Thursday

On this day 6 years ago the worst thing happened that can happen to any dog owner, I was devastated and it took me several days before I was able to write the hardest post  I've ever written on our social media
I had to inform every body that Badger had passed away in my arms and had crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I thought we were prepared, but in truth you're never prepared to lose your very best friend

It hit us really hard, even now I'm struggling to write this post, Badger was the first dog we got as a couple, my first Cocker Spaniel after almost a lifetime of having Rottweilers

He was so different from any dog I'd had previously and because he only weighed 9.5kgs he got away with all sorts of things my other dogs had never been allowed too, he slept on our bed and furniture, he pulled like a train on the lead and suffered with fear aggression after being involved in a nasty incident as a puppy
After several years of love and positive training we eventually got him over his fear aggression towards other dogs and he was once more a jolly little Cocker Spaniel called Badger

Jackanory Part 10:- Where has the time gone!

I can't believe I'm 6 years old and it's been 5 years since we dropped off the face of the blogging world after losing the star of our blog, my little big brother Badger Boo who originally started this blog by telling tales of his daft adventures

Some Sad News

An awful lot has happened since I last posted but I'll tell you more about that in future posts.

Today I have to tell you the very sad news that Badger Boo crossed The Rainbow Bridge last Wednesday morning.

It was discovered a few weeks ago he was suffering with Pancreatitis and he was quite unwell, but with medication he soon rallied and became more his like his old self again for a while.

Bad Hair Day

Sorry it's been such a long while since I last posted, Boris is growing up fast and mummy has been busy training him.

He's a very intelligent young pup and can do several tricks now, as well as learning all about good manners and the usual things us pups have to learn.

The top knot on his bonce has started growing out of control, it's even more impressive than mine now.

Mummy is itching to strip it out, but has so far resisted the urge as it's kinda cute.

He's now a lot bigger than me but still a big baby. The other day a Pigeon flew up out of the bracken and scared the life out of him.
A Gun Dog running away and yelping in fear at a silly old Pigeon, but at least nobody else saw, it was soooooo embarrassing!

Hope you all had a pawsome Christmas, and Santa Paws bought you lots of toys and treats.
See you in the New Year.

Bad Hair Day

What is it about my hoomum?
She always does this to me when I needs a haircut **resigned sigh**

How many other pups have to endure this type of humiliation I wonder?

Or is it just me?

A Day in the Life of a Media Hound

My day usually starts with a game of fetch with my most favorite of tennis balls, it's really old and nearly bald but I loves it so much.

If I'm really lucky and mummy has the time, we go to the canal for a swim, whatever the weather it doesn't matter. Us Cocker Spaniels are a hardly lot when it comes to swimming.

The Gallery 117 ~ Fitness

This weeks theme for The Gallery is Fitness.

Himself is a keen kayaker, it's an excellent way to keep fit as well as being great fun, for many years he has been an instructor, teaching mostly young people the benefits of this brilliant sport.

Several years ago Himself decided to teach our Badger Boo to stand on the front of the kayak, as he kept swimming around and around, and appeared to want to join him. This picture was Badgers first lesson.

Within minutes he had learnt to balance, and soon discovered that it was very comfortable to curl up on the spraydeck and have a little snooze.

So whilst Himself is paddling around getting a massive upper body work out, Badger is busy exercising his right to take things easy, as only a dog can.

Badger is free to jump off at any time, but he will always opt to go back to the kayak after a swim, and refuses join me on the shoreline until Himself has finished, he loves it that much.

Please note:-
We used only positive training methods and went at Badgers own pace. Not all dogs like water, or the instability of being on a kayak and could become very stressed very quickly, so do not try this if your dog is not 100% happy in water.

Why not pop over to Sticky Fingers to check out other peoples ideas on Fitness.

The Gallery has teamed up with Coca-Cola and their Work it Out Calculator so you can see how much exercise you need to do to burn off the calories, what a great idea..

Bath Time and Parcels ~ Pet Blogger Hop

Oh dear, this week I have had to have three baths, the reason being, I have been testing out the local "Eau de Fox Poop" much to mummys annoyance, I find the whole process quite boring as you can see.

She really doesn't understand my reasons for rolling in it, and I think she must secretly enjoy giving me a bath, she does it so often. I have to humour her sometimes BOL.

Badger Boo Media Hound ~ Pet Blogger Hop

Hello *waves paw* my name is Badger Boo and I'm a Cocker Spaniel, I'm a little bit naughty so my hoomum reckons.

But I have to say, I think I'm just cute not naughty!

Sometimes hoomums do jump to the wrong conclusions, as any self respecting pup will know!

My Favorite Toy ~ Pet Blogger Hop

I love my cuddles but I'm NOT giving my ball up. I love it far too much!
Do you have a favorite toy too? I would love to hear about it...
